Michael Prescott, Managing Director, Corporate Communications

Managing Director Michael Prescott leads the Corporate practice which has forged a reputation for providing expert counsel and innovative solutions across business.

Michael was a journalist for 17 years prior to joining Weber Shandwick. He worked for every different type of media outlet – local papers, national wire services, national tabloids, the BBC and – finally – the Sunday Times, where he spent 10 years and rose to become political editor. When Weber Shandwick stole Michael away from journalism in 2001, PRWeek commented that the appointment was “a major coup”.

Michael’s clients and experience at Weber Shandwick have been diverse. Corporate clients have included retail giant IKEA, energy company British Nuclear Fuels Ltd and construction conglomerate Balfour Beatty. Others that Michael has worked with or continues to work with have included cable company Virgin Media, MasterCard and the UK Department for Trade and Industry.

Weber Shandwick’s public affairs practice is also managed by Michael, in close conjunction with public affairs chairman Jon Mcleod. Michael’s joint role helps ensure that clients’ political and media needs can be assessed in the round, with seamless cooperation between public affairs and corporate comms specialists.
