Rakhee Vithlani, Head of Social Campaigns

Rakhee is a leading communications Director at global PR agency Weber Shandwick, focused on creating and implementing national and international social campaigns for clients such as The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and Save The Children. As part of this remit, Rakhee is highly engaged in creating campaigns in developing countries, in particular Asia having worked there on numerous occasions.

Rakhee also founded and heads up Weber Shandwick’s award-winning Multi-Cultural Communications practice, advising clients on creating effective campaigns to reach ethnic minority groups via media strategies. The practice is the only one in the UK to have ever won have won major European awards for Best Campaign and Best Multi-Cultural Campaign for the work Rakhee led for the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s Muslim Women Power List. Major clients under this division include The University of Oxford and the Foreign and Commonwealth office.

Rakhee has spent extensive time abroad in order to truly understand different cultures. She has undertaken secondments in Asia, including India, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing to understand the PR opportunities and challenges that arise with emerging economies. In addition, Rakhee has a strong understanding of US campaigning, having worked at Weber Shandwick’s The Axis Agency, a driving force in multi-cultural communications in Los Angeles, US. There she implemented urban and socio-political campaigns in LA, Chicago, Dallas and New York to reach African-American and Hispanic audiences.

This experience, combined with the eight years of public relations experience working at Weber Shandwick makes Rakhee one of the most experienced and unique public relations experts in the industry today.

Rakhee sits on the Senior Management Board for Weber Shandwick London. She has acquired executive leadership training at London Business School and prior to joining Weber Shandwick, she was one of the youngest in the world to be nominated for Best Research at the Academy of Marketing Conference for her Masters thesis in International Marketing.

Outside of work, Rakhee is a mentor to inner-city kids who are growing up in crime-ridden and gang-related environments. She is a keen swimmer and recently qualified for her PADI diving certificate..

Rakhee can speak Gujarati and Hindi.
