Helen Ireland, Head of Planet 2050, UK

As head of Planet 2050 UK, Helen is responsible for advising clients on a range of corporate responsibility and sustainable development issues, PR and communications. Drawing on her 12 years experience in communications, stakeholder engagement and corporate social responsibility gained in the NGO, public and private sector.

She has worked for a variety of organisations including Connexions, SABMiller plc, the Soil Association, the UK's leading environmental charity promoting sustainable, organic farming and championing human health, and at Cafédirect, the UK’s leading Fairtrade hot drinks company where she led the development and implementation of a corporate communications strategy and worked on a variety of consumer facing projects.  Her most recent role was advising an environment start up on its stakeholder engagement strategy.

She is passionate about the need for business, the public and third sector to work together to address social, environmental and ethical issues.

Helen has a BScEcon in Modern History and Politics, Cardiff University and an MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice, Bath University.

Brendan May, Chief Sustainability Advisor, Weber Shandwick

Brendan May advises on corporate responsibility and sustainable development issues, PR and communications. From 2004-2009 Brendan founded and managed Planet 2050, Weber Shandwick's global CSR & Sustainability practice. He has advised some of the world's largest companies and brands including The Coca Cola Company, American Airlines, Cargill Inc, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Mastercard, Alliance Boots, Orange Mobile, Yum Brands, Ecolab, Waitrose and A1GP, the World Cup of Motorsport. Since 2004 Brendan has advised the Rainforest Alliance, for whom he has helped broker and promote major new alliances with McDonalds, Kraft Foods, Innocent Drinks, Chiquita and Unilever. In September 2008 he joined the Rainforest Alliance's Board of Directors.
