Cleantech

Investment in the European Cleantech market grew 20% in 2007 to total €977 million, indicating the significance and growing economic importance of this new development area.

At Weber Shandwick, our public relations and sustainability experts have built a team across Europe that understands how to create lasting advocates for new energy and sustainability companies.  We advise some of the largest owners of city and country-wide infrastructures, to some of the most innovative and fast-moving companies that make products designed to slow climate change.  From the industry’s biggest corporations, to early-stage companies, we help sustainability brands create recognition in an increasingly competitive and noisy market.

What is Cleantech?
We define the Cleantech space as those companies who have innovative products or services specifically designed to optimise the use of natural resources to achieve reduced environmental impact (and better financial results).

What do we do?
We help Cleantech companies launch products and solutions, and help organisations rally public support and get key influentials on side.  We also advise companies on their pre and post IPO communications needs, funding support and investor relations.  Our sector experience spans clean technologies in the energy efficiency, clean energy, bio fuels, green IT, smart building and materials, and advanced transportation sectors.

Sustainability on all levels is a global issue. Weber Shandwick’s Cleantech consultants operate globally in 74 countries.  Our team of professionals is made up of technologists, financial communicators, corporate social responsibility experts, lobbyists and cleantech evangelists.  We have a proven track record in helping our clients drive sales and generate new leads, as well as helping them build passionate advocates for their brand.

The European Commission for Climate Action has put forward an integrated energy and climate change policy proposal - including ambitious targets for 2020 – aimed at creating a sustainable future with a low-carbon, energy-efficient economy – by:

  • Cutting greenhouse gases by 20% (30% if international agreement is reached)
  • Saving 20% of energy consumption through increased energy efficiency
  • Meeting 20% of our energy needs from renewable sources

Our Cleantech team is at the centre of this debate and has driven Cleantech campaigns around these key sectors.
