A1GP World Cup of Motorsport re-appoints Weber Shandwick for UK PR role
A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has re-appointed Weber Shandwick as its UK PR partner for the third consecutive year. The award-winning PR agency will continue to elevate the profile of the Motorsport series within the media and secure its place in the hearts and minds of UK consumers.
A1GP is a unique concept that epitomises international motorsport competition, pitting driver against driver and nation against nation in identical racing machines for the first time in history. Bringing together 23 nations, A1GP represents 80 per cent of the world's population, to battle it out as equals, without financial or technological advantage.
Weber Shandwick will continue to provide ongoing consultancy and advice on all aspects of its media relations and consumer engagement. The partnership comes at the beginning of a new era for A1GP as the 2008/09 season sees legendary car manufacturer Ferrari, design and supply the engines for the entire series.
Scott Hollingsworth, Chief Commercial Officer of A1GP said: “It is important to have professional organisations working alongside us to promote the series in all parts of the world, and in the UK we deal with journalists whose knowledge of the sport is extensive. In view of this we have to make sure we have an agency that has a good working relationship in all areas of the media so the correct message is relayed. Weber Shandwick has helped us to increase our coverage year on year, and so keeping them on board is important as we go into a new year for A1GP."
Fiona McLachlan, Head of Media & Sport at Weber Shandwick, said: “We are delighted to continue our association with A1GP. Season three saw an epic race for the title of World Champion and with the introduction of Ferrari as a partner, Season Four guarantees to attract even more fans to this action-packed sport.“
