Protégé - Fast Track Scheme
Weber Shandwick runs a graduate assessment and development programme that aims to identify and recruit some of the brightest and most talented individuals who have chosen to build their careers in public relations. This scheme also includes our niche practices such as Multi Cultural Communication, our lifestyle marketing practice SLAM, Digital, Broadcast and our CSR practice, Planet 2050 as well as our sister agency Golin Harris.
Initial selection and assessment includes assessment of the application form, followed by a telephone interview. Selected candidates are then asked to attend a one day assessment centre at our offices in London. This assessment takes place before Easter and short-listed candidates may be invited back for a further interview before offers are made. We select and develop high calibre candidates on the basis that they have the potential to become future leaders and high performing team players within Weber Shandwick. Successful candidates can join us from between April to September; however the development programme starts at the beginning of September each year.
The scheme kicks off with a structured induction where you will receive detailed information about the different practice areas in the business. You’ll receive a true insight into life at the world’s leading PR agency. You will benefit from formal training through a series of workshops designed to teach you skills such as client handling, creativity, presentation and time management alongside teamwork. All with the aim of helping you become a first class PR consultant.
Following the initial induction, you will have the chance to broaden your experience and develop your understanding of PR by spending time in practice areas other than your own. For instance, you may be based in the Consumer practice but have the opportunity to spend time in the Technology and Healthcare practices. Similarly, if you join Weber Shandwick Financial - our financial and city practice - you may spend time in the Corporate and Public Affairs practices.
...and don’t think it’s about making tea and photocopying. Whilst everyone here gets involved in these tasks MD’s included, we also expect you to hit the ground running. You will be assigned to client accounts at an early stage and will have the scope to learn about the business on the job as well as theoretically through development activities and training.
