Flexible Labour Markets and the Economic Recovery
Thursday 1st July 2010: 8:00am – 9.30am
One Great George Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA
On 1st July, Weber Shandwick and Proskauer Rose LLP will be hosting a breakfast seminar to discuss Flexible Labour Markets and the Economic Recovery.
As Britain emerges from recession, the dynamics of the UK labour market will play a critical and defining role. Restructuring in the private sector and spending cuts by Government departments will lead to turbulence in the job market, just at the time when the economic recovery is being established. Regarded as the most flexible Labour market in the European Union, albeit less flexible than the United States, the way Britain approaches the challenges ahead could define employment law and the country’s wider economic prospects, for decades to come.
The seminar will be a panel discussion, chaired by Jon McLeod, UK Chairman of Weber Shandwick Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.
Sitting on the panel will be:
• Paul Salvatore – Co-Chair of the Labour and Employment Department, Proskauer
• Katja Hall – Director, Employment Policy, CBI
• Nicola Smith – Senior Policy Officer, TUC
• Ian Brinkley – Director of the Knowledge Economy Programme, The Work Foundation
Breakfast will be served at 8.00am for an 8.30am start. Proceedings will close at 9.30am.
