Weber Shandwick Reaches New Peak: Agency to provide support for major Scottish sports project
Leading Scottish public relations consultancy Weber Shandwick is to handle media and community relations activity ahead of the opening of The Peak sports complex, which lies at the heart of Stirling Council’s £27.3 million Stirling Sports Village project.
The consultancy has been reappointed by Active Stirling on the back of significant results around the opening of the development’s international class outdoor facilities in November last year.
Over the next six months, Weber Shandwick’s Glasgow team, will work to raise awareness of both the new complex and the development as a whole, which includes a new nine-court sports hall, 25m swimming pool, specialist climbing wall and six-sheet ice pad as well as the existing six five-a-side football pitches, third generation football/rugby surface and international class water-based hockey pitch.
The consultancy will also work with the Active Stirling team on the management of the official opening ceremony of The Peak in April next year.
Nora Senior, managing director of Weber Shandwick Scotland said: "The Stirling Sports Village project is a hugely significant development in terms of the provision of top class sporting facilities in Scotland. The Peak complex is being delivered on time and on budget and we are delighted to be in a position to continue our relationship with Active Stirling and build on the success of the earlier activity. Being reappointed to work for a client is an excellent endorsement for our business and the high standard of work we deliver."
The Peak complex will bring 90 new jobs opportunities to the local community, along with the world class sporting facilities, which will help Stirling to stake a claim to attract top athletes and teams to the area to train ahead of both the London Olympics and Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
