Weber Shandwick wins EDF Energy Consumer PR account
EDF Energy, one of the UK’s leading energy companies, has appointed Weber Shandwick to handle its consumer, sponsorship and business to business PR.
Weber Shandwick won the account in a competitive pitch and will support EDF Energy in its ambitious plans to grow its retail business.
The agency will champion EDF Energy’s mission to bring affordable, low-carbon energy solutions home to everyone, which will be supported by innovative products and compelling brand initiatives.
Weber Shandwick will have a key role in continuing to activate EDF Energy’s position as the first Sustainability Partner and Tier One Sponsor of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of EDF Energy’s 2012 programme, the agency will also develop and deliver a major PR activation programme around the company’s successful Green Britain Day initiative which was launched last year.
Kaa Holmes, Head of Media Relations, EDF Energy said: “Following a long and thorough process, EDF Energy is delighted to appoint Weber Shandwick. The agency impressed our panel with the talent of its team and their range of strong ideas. Together we can powerfully communicate EDF Energy’s low carbon role and our continuing commitment to being a truly sustainable energy supplier. We look forward to a very successful partnership which will help engage the public in addressing climate change.”
Rebecca Grant, Director at Weber Shandwick added: “EDF Energy is fantastic brand that is already among the top media performers in the industry. We are thrilled by the opportunity to partner with them to deliver against a broad spectrum of brand initiatives that will cement them as the provider of affordable, low-carbon energy solutions. This is a particularly exciting time as the nation builds towards London 2012, and we’re very proud to support their communications as the first Sustainability Partner for the Games.
