Mobile application vendor Surfkitchen appoints Weber Shandwick Technology after three-way pitch

SurfKitchen, the global market leader in On-Device Portal (ODP) applications, has selected Weber Shandwick Technology London as its UK public relations agency. Weber Shandwick will promote SurfKitchen’s suite of software applications that enable mobile phone users to quickly and easily access a variety of mobile content.

SurfKitchen’s Phonetop suite provides mobile users with a quality experience when accessing mobile content, be that web pages games,, ring tones, music downloads, TV clips etc. The company is set for a busy year as it brings new products on board and broadens its established global operator customer base and partnerships with handset manufacturers.

One of the key requirements for Weber Shandwick will be to raise SurfKitchen’s profile with existing and potential customers and partners through innovative media and analyst engagement programmes.

“SurfKitchen enjoyed a hugely successful Mobile World Congress in Barcelona reinforcing its strong position among global tier one mobile operators. We were therefore keen to review our public relations strategy to ensure we had the right PR partner for what promises to be an exceptionally busy year ahead,” says Kate Nichols, Marketing Communications Director at SurfKitchen. “Weber Shandwick impressed us with its knowledge of the mobile content market and the team’s innovation and enthusiasm was evident throughout the proposal and pitch process. We’re looking forward to working together on a number of exciting projects over the coming months.”

“2008 will see the tipping point for mobile services such as music, TV and the Web, and SurfKitchen is going to play a major role in providing quick and easy access to that content,” adds Michelle McGlocklin, Managing Director at Weber Shandwick Technology. “Much of the buzz at Mobile World Congress was around mobile content and how it will be delivered, consumed and monetized. Our strategy will be to ensure SurfKitchen is in the mind and on the lips of key media, analysts and industry leaders when they’re advising customers, colleagues and clients on how to deliver new mobile data services.”
